I’ve been to the hospital a few times due to harm ocd, I don’t know how to control it and I’m just worried about my safety, but I don’t wanna go back to the hospital.. How do you guys think I can handle this..?
I have harm ocd I take medication zyprexa 10 mg and prizma 80 mg But in addition I try to put the thoughts aside- read, do sport, listen to music or rain sound which calms me a lot.. I geuss also the passage of time makes it better hope things will get well for you soon stay strong you are not alone ❤️
You really aren’t alone here - sometimes the harm ocd gives you these urges to hurt someone you love like you wanna do it or maybe it really is you huh? Well it’s not - I suffer this too and still have to remember “I don’t know what will happen and that’s okay - maybe I do maybe I don’t who cares?” Because our values tell us we aren’t what our brain says what we are you feel? I spent 20 years being nice to everyone, loving , never wanted to hurt a fly - a few months after 21 I contracted harm ocd and now all those years just out the window cause our brain tells us that? No. You have to fight to be better but by finding inner peace. You can’t tell yourself “no that’s not me” “no I wouldn’t EVER do that” because you know that but your brain will only feed of that. It’s a horrible illness. Inner peace can be so hard to find when it feels like this is you but it’s not. You’re here to get help, you feel horrible for your thoughts? It’s not you.

just a couple days ago i experienced this for the first time from watching the new DAHMER series. Im having intrusive images and thoughts of me harming or killing my loved ones and its so scary because i would never do it. It has me questioning if im crazy and im having severe panic attacks over 3 times a day. Im mentally and physically drained, i’ve told my mom about it and we are going to see a therapist tomorrow. Im scared to because idk if they specialize in OCD and if i tell them my thoughts they are gonna put me in the mental hospital or say im crazy and don’t have OCD, can any therapists on here or fellow people with Harm OCD let me know if you think im showing signs of it, i just want it to go away and to be able to sleep at night without severe overthinking.
Hey guys. I’ve been dealing with Harm OCD for around 3 and 1/2 months now, and it’s been extremely difficult to experience. I’ve had OCD my whole life and some of my family members do as well, one of my cousins actually has the same main subtype as me, but he was diagnosed almost a year ago when I didn’t have it myself. I’ve been going to an OCD & Anxiety Treatment Center the past week and I’m really struggling with the exposures we do there, as well as the ones we do at home. I constantly feel like I’m judging myself and I genuinely feel worthless, like I’m a horrible person to have unwanted intrusive thoughts like these. I feel like it’s so difficult to stay mindful and to not judge any of the thoughts that surface. Those with Harm OCD, have any of you here gone from debilitating OCD to living fulfilling lives? If so, what was the process like for you, if you’d like to share? Thanks and I hope you’re all doing well, or are continuing to improve.
I can't live at home because I'm afraid I'll stab the neighbours with a knife. I've spent basically all year in a psychward. I feel suicidal at the moment. I see this therapist and I'm learning some strategies but I'm afraid it's not enough. Please tell me your experiences with harm OCD? Have any of you been able to beat it?
